What is a Root Canal?
Perhaps you are feeling that you have a sensitive tooth and it goes deeper than the surface of your tooth. A root canal helps to fix and recover a defective or infected tooth. This service is a procedure that takes away the defected area of the tooth, which can also be called the pulp, by cleaning it, filling it and sealing it.
Causes of a Root Canal
The reason your pulp is being affected is because of a cracked tooth, repeated dental treatment to a tooth, or you could possibly have a deep cavity.
What You Should Expect During a Root Canal
Are you someone that likes to know exactly what to expect when you come to the office for your root canal at Mt. Ogden Dental? There are 3 things that you can expect to happen at your root canal appointment:
- Anesthesia-Dr. Mark will apply a local anesthesia where the tooth is affected. This is to ensure that you will experience as little pain as possible.
- Pulpectomy-This is when Dr. Mark will make an opening and remove the defected area of the tooth.
- Filling-During the pulpectomy, the roots to your tooth have been opened and is then filled with a rubber-type material and sealed with cement.
